I know, I know, it's be months since I last posted. I have no excuse so I won't give one. Anyway, things are busy here at Maywood. There have been alot of retreats this Fall and alot of building going on. We are well underway with the building of the new Shechem, Ashdod, and Gilgal building. The old girl's bathhouse and the old Shechem-Ashdod cabin are now just a memory. Besides this, Louis Cervantes, a member of the Gloster St. congregation in Tupelo, MS has charged himself with raising the money to install a new disc golf course. We will all be able to enjoy this in the near future. I have posted some pictures of the cabin construction, take a look.
Thanks to all of the staff who worked so hard this past summer at the camp. Maywood Cristian Camp would not be possible if it weren't for you. We had about 1850 kids this past summer, another great number.

A well used camp
Within the past week there have been four different events taking place at Maywood. Last Saturday was the final day of a missions retreat that had over one hundred people attending, mostly older people who have spent their lives serving the Lord in places other than their homes. Mission workers from Texas to North Carolina to Florida and everywhere in between were here. On the heels of that event was a group of teen boys and adults from the West Main congregation in Tupelo who spent two days helping us work on the camp, getting it ready for the summer. That ended Saturday afternoon. Sunday afternoon showed us hosting the Hamilton church of Christ for their Spring picnic and afternoon worship service, and then today there where over 200 K-6th grade kids here for the annual Maddness in May. At the same time was our annual bake sale in town last weekend (Thanks Martha, Sarah and Joan) and another group of men from Tupelo and Pontotoc, MS who came to work on the putt-putt golf course this weekend. What a busy week, but how good is was to see the camp used to it's fullest. Only three weeks until the first week of summer camp, it won't be long now.

Only four weeks to go!!!!!
OK, I know I said that I would post something about Maywood every few weeks. I didn't mean for it to be two months but it has, sorry. Things are so busy right know here at the camp that it is unbelievable. As I write this, there are about 90 missionaries and their supporters at the camp for a retreat, the annual MayDay bake sale is tomorrow, the "pool man" finished the work on our swimming pool on Monday and we are in the final stages of finishing up the work on the boy's cabin. Only four weeks from this Sunday will begin the 44th year of camping here at Maywood Christian Camp. It's hard to belive that I was here for the 9th year when I was 8 years old, doesn't seem possible. So many things have changed yet so much remains the same. Buildings and "stuff" change but the things that remain the same are the things that Bro. Moore, Bro. Jerry, and Bro. Bruce built our little camp upon. I hope you love this place as much as I.

News at Camp
Today I sat at this computer to do something I have never done before, make a blog. When I get through you may be saying, I can tell. I want to let you all know what's going on over here. Like many of you, before I moved to Maywood I found it easy to lose touch with what's going on over here at the camp during the times that I wasn't at camp. So I wanted a way to keep everybody up to date with what's happening right now and get us all excited for the summer .
We are right in the middle of some major construction. The swimming pool is being almost completely refurbishing, this was a long time coming and has proven to be very expensive but it was badly needed and I think well worth the money that is being put in to it. We also are refurbishing the boy's four way cabin (Sardis, Derbe, Tarsus, and Lystra), if you have lived in that cabin over the past few years then you know, all too well, how badly that was needed. There has also been some concrete work done at the pavillion and the fire ring by the lake.
We've had our camp display set up at the Freed-Hardeman lectureships and at CYC in Gatlinburg over the past few weeks. It was good to see all you Maywood folks there. I'll be set up at Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes in Nashville so if you are there stop and say hello.
Well it won't be long now until the summer sessions start (June 1st) and I can hardley wait. We've already started up with Spring retreats and lots of applications have already come in so there is a lot happening here at Maywood. I'll try to keep you updated every week or two so keep checking back.
